Bad habits are not easy to leave, but you can do it.
I change gear quickly too, some people don't like it, but I keep the car in my hands, and keep low fuel and brakes comsumption.
But, since You still have a test, try to get the correct suggested rpm to gear change.
I always try to keep between 1200 or 2300.

Of course, the driver should be looking both ways even if its a one way street. As you proved, he should be looking out for cyclists as well as pedestrians etc.

Learnin is a practise that too regular.If U don't drive some time, u may not drive proprly.As far as driving is concerned, by and large after learning,same is done by Reflexes of the body.Like U r driving and thinking something else,and u reach your destination.So practise in driving is must,then only u drive perfectly.
As far as slow driving is concerned, same may cause accident as others are driving fast.This should be avoided.Though in most of the nations there is no such rule,that u can't drive below some level.So u sholud have your own car for this.And u will definately have one day.Or If u wish I may send my Car. I have one Ford Car extra. U come to India and drive back.This will be a good practise also.
Keep writing about u and on other subjects also.

Here, in Brasil, we have a low speed limit. It's a half of maximum speed.
There is a technical explanation, but it's boring!
Basically, you develop the geometry for safe flow at the speed limit. If you are too slow, your car is "pushed" to the wrong direction, in a lateral movement. There's really a better explanation but my english doesn't allow me tro write it down. :P
Believe in yourself. You're smart and you are taking lessons.
Panic doesn't help. It never did.

My instructor has told me to relax as well. I am as tense as a coiled spring sometimes so relaxation lessons would be good as well as driving lessons!

I would like to help but... Two problems:
1. Brasil have reverse directions than England, we go by right, come by left.
2. Can you come in the weekend, we could practice" :)

What can I say? Practice.
And about drinking, you must get the right dose, enough to relax, and far from mix and forget!

You are a good driver, I believe, else not, you wouldn't choose talk about it here.

Hi Luis,

Yes, parking is a big problem here in the cities too. I have friends who will park the car miles away because they hate parking in awkward places.

I am not sure what my instructor would think if I was singing songs but the chewing gum is a good idea. Thanks for the words of wisdom.

That's the reason I avoid hospitals and dentists.
Panic usually means that you think too much about something. Frequently wrong about it.
Try to distract part of your mind. Chewing gums or singing songs while driving.
In this case, slow music, please!!
Here,in Brasil, the major panic for people on driving is... parking!!
Practice, practice, practice... :)

Laws and roads seems the same anywhere I know.
And idiots too.
They're spread everywhere you may look.

What can we do? Just survive? It's not funny.
